CompTIA Security+ Practice Exam — Free Sample
A free 15-question sample of the Security+ practice exam, drawn to the real SY0-701 domain weights, with a scored report by domain and a full review of every question.
What Is This Practice Exam?
Fifteen Security+ questions drawn in the same proportions as the real SY0-701 exam, on the same per-question pace, scored by domain and reviewed answer by answer. Free, with no code and no account.
The real exam gives you 90 minutes for up to 90 questions. This sample keeps that pace exactly — 15 questions, 15 minutes — so the clock feels the way it will on exam day rather than giving you room the real thing will not.
Every question here was written against CompTIA’s published SY0-701 exam objectives. None of it comes from anyone’s recollection of a live exam. Real exam items are covered by CompTIA’s candidate agreement, and candidates caught using them lose their certification.
How Does It Mirror the Real Security+ Exam?
CompTIA publishes the weight of each SY0-701 domain. A form drawn from the bank pulls each domain’s share rather than spreading questions evenly — Security Operations is 28% of the real exam, so it is 28% of your practice.
What Does the Score Report Tell You?
A raw score on its own tells you almost nothing about what to study next. The report is built to answer the question you actually have: where is the time best spent between now and exam day?
About that scaled score. Treat it as an estimate and nothing more. CompTIA scales the real exam using item statistics it does not publish, so no third party can reproduce that calculation — including us. The raw count and the domain breakdown are the numbers worth acting on.

Fifteen questions, fifteen minutes. The clock starts when you press the button, and you can flag anything you want to revisit before you submit.
Questions About the Practice Exam
No. The sample is free and starts immediately. Your attempt is tracked by a link in your address bar, so if you close the tab you can return to it — though the clock keeps running.
No, and they never will be. Every question is written from CompTIA’s published exam objectives. Live exam items are confidential under the candidate agreement, and any provider selling them is putting your certification at risk as well as their own business.
No. Fifteen questions is too few to predict a 90-question exam, and we do not claim otherwise. What the sample is genuinely useful for is showing you which domains you are weak in, and what the question style feels like under a clock.
Yes, as many times as you like. The bank holds 76 items and each form is drawn fresh to the blueprint, so consecutive attempts typically share only a handful of questions out of fifteen.
No. Each attempt shuffles the options for every question and holds that order for the length of the attempt. Answer position carries no information, so guessing a letter gains you nothing — which is exactly how the real exam behaves.
If the Report Shows More Gaps Than Self-Study Will Close
The CompTIA Security+ Boot Camp is four days of instructor-led training with an exam voucher included. The same domains, taught rather than tested.
