How Our SC-200 Boot Camp Prepares You

Train for Microsoft SC-200, the security operations credential built around Microsoft Sentinel and Defender XDR. Four days on detection, incident response and threat hunting with KQL, with an exam voucher and pass guarantee.

SC-200 is the analyst certification for organizations that run security on the Microsoft stack. It assumes you are working in Sentinel and Defender XDR daily — tuning analytics rules, triaging incidents, writing KQL — rather than reading about them.

Microsoft publishes weights as ranges rather than fixed percentages, so the bars below show the published range with the midpoint drawn. Managing the operations environment is the largest area at 40–45%, which is why it takes the first two days here.

Microsoft updates the English version of this exam on 21 October 2026. The three skill areas and their weights are unchanged; the revisions inside them are minor. This boot camp tracks the current outline either side of that date.

What You’ll Learn

  • ✓Configuring automation across Defender XDR and Microsoft Sentinel
  • ✓Standing up and tuning the Sentinel SIEM and its data connectors
  • ✓Writing and managing analytics and custom detection rules
  • ✓Triage and remediation across Defender for Endpoint, Office 365 and Cloud
  • ✓Investigating identities, Purview activity and multi-stage attacks
  • ✓Threat hunting with Kusto Query Language and hunting graphs

Who This Course Is For

This course is built for professionals pursuing SC-200 to validate their skills, meet a job or compliance requirement, or move into a more advanced role. Demand for these skills remains strong across private sector, government, and contractor environments.

  • SOC Analysts working in Microsoft Sentinel and Defender
  • Security Analysts moving onto the Microsoft stack
  • Incident Responders in Microsoft 365 and Azure environments
  • Threat Hunters learning KQL properly
  • Azure Administrators moving into security operations
  • Detection Engineers building rules in Sentinel

What Are the SC-200 Prerequisites?

There is no mandatory prerequisite. Microsoft expects familiarity with its security, compliance and identity solutions, Microsoft 365, Azure services, AI agents and Copilots, and with Windows, Linux and mobile operating systems. If you have not worked in Sentinel or Defender XDR before, the hunting material on day four will move quickly — the exam assumes KQL is something you write rather than recognize.

What Does the SC-200 Exam Cover?

Our boot camp aligns to the SC-200 skills measured so every topic maps to what is tested.

Manage a security operations environment40–45%
Respond to security incidents35–40%
Perform threat hunting20–25%

Microsoft publishes ranges rather than fixed weights, so each bar carries the midpoint of its published range. If preparation time is short, spend it on managing the operations environment — at 40–45% it is the largest area, and it is the one with the most configuration detail to remember.

Frequently Asked Questions About SC-200 Certification

If your organization runs security on Microsoft tooling, yes — it is the credential that maps directly to the Sentinel and Defender XDR work an analyst actually does. If you work in a multi-vendor SOC with no Microsoft commitment, a vendor-neutral analyst credential like CySA+ travels further.

Microsoft updates the English version of the exam that day. The three skill areas and their published weights stay the same; the changes inside them are minor, and Microsoft’s own change log marks most groups as unchanged. This boot camp is built to the current outline on either side of the date.

Different jobs. SC-200 is for the analyst who watches and responds: triage, incidents, hunting. SC-500 is for the engineer who builds and hardens: identity, storage, networking, compute and posture management. If you spend your day in incident queues, SC-200.

With this boot camp you prepare in 4 days of focused, instructor-led training rather than the months self-study usually takes. The accelerated format works because it follows the exam objectives in a structured sequence, includes hands-on labs, and bundles an exam voucher so you can test while the material is fresh.

There is no mandatory prerequisite, but Microsoft expects working familiarity with Microsoft 365, Azure services and its security and identity tooling. The exam asks you to interpret Sentinel and Defender configurations rather than define terms, so console time matters more than reading.

Our Exam Pass Guarantee covers your second attempt at no charge, and you can re-sit the boot camp free for up to one year from your enrollment date. The guarantee exists so a single unsuccessful attempt never becomes a financial barrier to getting certified.

Yes. Every enrollment includes a voucher covering the full cost of the SC-200 exam, along with official courseware, practice materials, and hands-on labs.

ExamNav’s SC-200 boot camp is $2,755 for four days of live, instructor-led training. That price includes official courseware, the exam voucher, hands-on labs, unlimited practice exams, a pre-study learning path, and instructor support after class. It also carries our Exam Pass Guarantee: if you don’t pass on the first attempt, your second exam is on us.

Yes. Every SC-200 class on our schedule is taught live online by an instructor, starting at 9:00am Eastern each day for four days. You attend in real time, ask questions, and work through the labs as you go. It is not a recorded course.
